How does the church evangelise?

Deut 4:5-8 & John 4:39-42 – Are we all alone in our efforts to evangelise?  Thankfully, no.  The church both adorns the gospel we proclaim and supports and helps us in our outreach.  What an asset the church is to our evangelism! Let’s make use of it.

The Goal of Evangelism

2 Corinthians 5:20 – The goal of evangelism is to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ. We are to bear witness to his message: “Be reconciled to God.” Genesis 17:6-7 – We are ambassadors of Jesus Christ as a part of God’s covenant community of believers. We don’t bear this message alone.

Forgotten?

Genesis 39-40 – Joseph’s life is the stuff of nightmares.  Betrayed, enslaved, falsely accused, imprisoned and seemingly forgotten – this is Joseph’s lot.  From this grim account, Christians can learn 2 facts about hard times: firstly, God is with us, and secondly so is temptation.
