Gen 29:14-30:24 – A peek into Jacob’s family life is sad, but all the time, God’s promise is growing. Is your life similarly “messy?” Remembering that God is at work changes everything.
Leviticus 25 – The Day of Jubilee promises celebration, restoration, and freedom. This gives God’s people a distinct reason to hope and to continue in their battle against sin.
Genesis 28:10-29:14a – Do God’s promises still apply to a trickster like Jacob? Surprisingly, yes. As God first speaks to Jacob, we’re challenged to re-think our priorities and pay attention to the outworking of God’s plan in our lives. God is near to tricksters.
Leviticus 1-7 God’s people are to give to God their best, their are to give to God first, and they are to give to God joyfully. These practices take faith in God and committed obedience.
Genesis 27-28.9 – This is a story without a hero, at least a hero that is seen. Each character in the story is seeking blessing, but all of them seek blessing in their own ways. It is only when this family begins to seek blessing in the Lord that true blessing comes.
1 Corinthians 1:4-9 – Giving thanks for the work of Christ’s grace in the life of a Christian.
Genesis 23-24 – Luck? Fate? Chance? Every description falls short. Again through Abraham’s life, we see that God directs our every step. He also gives us assurances of His care along the way. Prepare to be encouraged.
Genesis 22 – Unbelievably, God tells Abraham to kill his son Isaac and offer him as a burnt offering. What will Abraham do? Through Abraham and Isaac we learn invaluable lessons about faith and God’s grand plan to provide a substitute for sinners.
Leviticus 19 – Christians are to be characterised by holiness in in their relationships with those around them. Their holiness is to be marked by a right view of justice. Their lives are to be pure in all aspects. And their worship is to be only that which God has commanded.
Leviticus 16 – Holiness is a mindset. Christians are to have this mindset regarding sin: sin must be put to death.
Genesis 20-21 – God works in… surprising ways. It’s no less true in our lives than in Abraham’s. Let God’s Word and Abraham’s story prepare you live well in a surprise-filled world.
Psalm 101 – The What, How, and Why of the Christian Ideal.
Genesis 18-19 – As we hear of God’s terrifying judgement upon Sodom and Gomorrah, we’re reminded that God alone knows the path to life. Our passage today gives us 3 signposts along that path.
